Part of a series of interviews conducted by Hershey High School students for a class project in the fall of 2006. Sisters Philomena Castelli and Josephine Malaro describe their childhood in Hershey and their work for Hershey Chocolate. Malaro was a factory tour guide and later an executive receptionist at HERCO. Castelli worked in the factory for 47 years. They recall seeing Mr. Hershey make factory inspections, the strikes of 1937 and 1953, and producing ration bars during World War II. Castelli describes the production of Almond bars and Bon Bons. Their discussion also touches upon discrimination against Italian immigrants; Sunday band concerts in Hershey Park; the Hershey Park Pool; Sunken Garden; Creamery; Hershey Department Store; and attending hockey games in the Hershey Arena.
