The collection is organized in one series, which consists of an advertisement, Hershey Chocolate Company bar cards, business cards, correspondence, assorted land records, a publication, and a report card. Correspondence and land records comprise the bulk of the material. The correspondence contains several hand written letters from Milton S. Hershey to his uncle, Abraham B. Snavely, requesting financial assistance for his wholesale and retail confectionery business in Philadelphia. Letters from Martha (Mattie) Snavely requesting financial assistance on Milton’s behalf and reporting on the activities of the business are also included. A photocopied advertisement for Hershey’s Medicated Cabinet and Milton S. Hershey’s Philadelphia business cards also document the Philadelphia confectionery. The collection contains a significant amount of land records. Many of the land records are related and document the landownership history of tracts later acquired by Abraham B. Snavely.
